May Race Report
Kimbolton 13th May 2007

A wet day just got wetter as Hunts Kart Racing Club held the fourth round of the Club Championships at Kimbolton on 13th May 2007. Having completed all the heats, the continuing downpours had left several areas of the track with standing water on them. The MSA steward was of the opinion that to continue racing would compromise safety and so regretfully the remainder of the meeting had to be abandoned. Club results were determined based on the grid positions for the finals.

Cadet: With two heat wins and a third place, Sam Sanders took the honours in Cadet, followed by Daniel Burton and Jake Walker. Harry Webb was first novice.

Junior TKM: Joe Porter’s drive from 18th to 4th in the first heat set him on his way to pole position for the final and hence the win. Consistent top six finishes left Sam Blake in second ahead of Gary Henderson-Keirle.

Rotax Mini Max/TKM Intermediate: Andrew Gunn was dominant in Mini Max, with three heat wins. Sam Clarence took second with Jordan Aveline third. Michael Whitaker was first novice. In Intermediates, Alistair Clarke had three good heat results to take the win. James Blake hit trouble in heat two, but still ran out second ahead of Thomas Kolasky.

Rotax Junior Rotax: Nick Wones was another driver who found the conditions to his liking, winning all three heats to finish first overall. Jake Parker was second and David Turton third, just one point behind. Charlie Turner took the novice award.

250/125 ICC: In 250, Ron Stamp’s two class wins put him ahead of Andrew Dean, with Steve Burton third. A drive from 11th to 2nd in heat one and a win in heat three gave Robin Kingham the 125 honours with Paul Lawson second and Richie Schmitz third.

Rotax Senior 177: Dan Holland was untouchable as he drove from 19th to win heat one, 14th to 2nd in heat two and 5th to another win in heat three. Lee Torrie was the only driver to get within a second of Holland’s lap times and took the other heat win, to finish second overall. Martin Reader was third, with two fourth place finishes to his name. Stephen Lloyd just pipped Stuart Eccleston to the novice award.

TKM Extreme: Luke Caudle came good in heats two and three to beat Ryan Cole by one point. Joe Forsdyke was the other heat winner on his way to third. Stephen James took the novice award.

Rotax Senior Max: Chris Lock made it a successful return to Kimbolton, boosted by a fine win in heat one. Second was Stephen Johnson’s reward for a win in heat two, with Kyle Chesterman slipping through to third. Justin Burrell won the novice award.
