Kimbolton 13th October 2007
Kimbolton club members were joined by visitors from the Biland Super Series, as Hunts Kart Race Club held round 8 of its 2007 championships on 13th October.
Cadet: The welcome trend for increasing numbers of Cadets racing at the club continued. Consistent heat results gave James Armitage pole position and he took full advantage of it as several rivals tangled at Stow, amongst them fellow front row starter Toby Sowery. George Russell and Sam Sanders were first out of the melee, Russell making up eleven places in the process! Russell did his best to close the huge gap to the leader and to his credit got to within three tenths by the end of the race. Josh White grabbed fourth back from Samuel Vanderpump on the last lap. Tom Hill was first novice.
Junior TKM: In one of the best finals of the day, front row men Gary Henderson-Keirle and Thomas Stanway lost out on the first time round Stow, dropping to sixth and eighth respectively. Ben Barker took the lead from Oliver Hodgson and Joe Porter. Barker and Hodgson swapped the lead for several laps but Porter dropped down the order as first Tom Witts and then the recovering Henderson-Kierle passed him. In the space of two laps Witts was into the lead, but Hodgson still had something in reserve and retook the lead a lap later. Now Henderson-Kierle was past Barker into third and soon caught Hodgson and Witts. On the penultimate lap, Witts was back in front with Henderson-Kierle into second, Hodgson now third, just ahead of Barker, all four of them with a chance of the win. They sorted themselves out at the Bus Stop with Henderson-Kierle taking the lead and winning from Hodgson with Barker third, and Witts a disappointed fourth. Richard Woolmer took the novice award.
Rotax Mini Max/TKM Intermediate: Luke Gardiner got past Jordan King and Ashley Hand at the start and led for six laps. King had shadowed him all the way and chose lap seven to make his move for the lead. Once there, he held on to win from Gardiner and King. In Intermediates, Jack Kemp led Thomas Kolasky by some distance, who in turn was comfortably ahead of James Blake.
Rotax Junior Max: James Hassall held up David Pittard’s progress momentarily as the pole man swept back into the lead on lap two. David Turton ran third for most of the race, but had to relinquish the place to hard charging Alex Magee. Greg Jackson took the novice award.
TKM Extreme: Luke Caudle had the race under control from the start, despite constant pressure from Paul Garner. Behind them, William Reed and Ryan Cole were men on the move, Reed into third form grid six and Cole eighth up from seventeenth after two laps. Caudle, Garner and Reed pulled away from the rest. With a couple of laps to go Caudle managed to ease away from Garner who was defending his position from Reed, but Garner found the speed to challenge Caudle at the Bus Stop on the last lap. Unfortunately for him, he had to move off line and Reed dived through into second. On the run to the line, Caudle slowed allowing Reed to take the win. Ryan Cole rounded off an impressive performance in fourth place, with James Plant the first novice.
Rotax Senior 177: Pole sitter Lee Torrie went out on lap one leaving Paul Burbage to lead to the flag. Lucas Orrock following Martin Reader until the final lap when he made his move for second. The novice award went to Steve Lloyd.
250: Ron Stamp and Andrew Dean from the front row ran first and second throughout. Dean got close to Stamp on several occasions but was unable to make a passing move. Martin Goodliffe dropped down the field at the start, but gradually worked his way back to third.
125 ICC: It seems no one can stop Jack Angus who took his fourth win in successive months. Paul Lawson and Michael Lunn were side by side into the Willows, Lunn coming out ahead. The top three decided, the interest shifted to the battle for fourth, with Robin Kingham eventually taking it from Santino Meale and Richie Schmitz.
Rotax Senior Max: Chris Lock made it a winning return to Kimbolton with a lights-to-flag win. Paul Walsh followed in second and Luke Caudle in his second outing of the day was third. Josh Parker lost out at the start, but pulled back to fourth. Ankit Love was first novice.
